Autumn fertilizer for lawns – Hortifoska is packed in a very convenient to use package, provided with a zipper that allows resealing. Also perfect for fertilizing ornamental grasses, e.g. miscanthus, fescue, pampas grasses and other grasses with high nutritional requirements. The fertilizer primarily prepares plants for difficult winter conditions. It is worth starting to use autumn fertilizers in summer (even from July, instead of nitrogen fertilizers).
Hortifoska autumn fertilizer for lawns comes in a convenient package with a resealable zipper. The foil packaging prevents moisture penetration, avoiding lumps in the fertilizer. The offer includes 1 kg, 3 kg and 25 kg packages.
Potassium regulates water processes in plants. This boosts winter water resistance. Phosphorus stimulates plants to produce a healthy and well-developed root system, which translates into better resistance to adverse environmental factors. Additionally, phosphorus and potassium strengthen the grasses resistance to diseases.
Grasses properly nourished have a better condition in spring, which reduces the risk of falling ill with a fungal disease – snow mold – after the snow recedes.
Most importantly, Hortifoska autumn fertilizer is nitrogen-free. This prevents excessive growth and sensitive young shoots in low temperatures. The balanced composition helps the plants to enter the winter dormancy, and also increases the winter hardiness and frost resistance of plants.
You can use the fertilizer from mid-July to better prepare plants for winter dormancy. However, the best time to start fertilizing with fall fertilizer is August. Then the plants will have time to make optimal use of the nutrients supplied before the onset of winter.
In recent years, climate changes have extended the summer-autumn period. This results in a longer vegetation period for plants. Therefore, fertilization with autumn fertilizer can be repeated after 2 months. Avoid delaying fertilization until frost. Frozen ground hinders nutrient absorption by plants.
In spring, you can also use fall fertilizer for conifers, but then it’s worth supplementing it with nitrogen fertilizer.
In the recommended period, use 20 g (half a handful) * of fertilizer for every 1 m² of lawn area.
Sprinkle the fertilizer evenly over the lawn, and after use, water it abundantly. The fertilizer in contact with moist soil will gradually dissolve.
* One handful is about 30-40 g of fertilizer.
