Autumn fertilizer prepares lawns and ornamental grasses for winter. It is a granular phosphorus-potassium fertilizer intended for autumn fertilization of lawns. It is also perfect for fertilizing ornamental grasses, e.g. miscanthus, rozplenica, fescue, pampas grasses and other grasses with high nutritional requirements. The fertilizer is primarily used to prepare plants for difficult winter conditions.
Fertilization in autumn with phosphorus-potassium fertilizers is of great importance for the development of the lawn. The high potassium content increases disease resistance and protects less resistant plant species from freezing. Potassium additionally regulates the processes of water uptake and evaporation in plants, thanks to which plants are more resistant to water shortage in winter. Phosphorus stimulates plants to produce a healthy and well-developed root system, which translates into better resistance to adverse environmental factors.
Most importantly – autumn fertilizer for lawns does not contain nitrogen, so it does not stimulate plants to grow intensively and to create young shoots, sensitive to low temperatures. The balanced composition helps the plants to enter the winter dormancy, and also increases the winter hardiness and frost resistance of plants. Fertilizing lawns with fertilizers containing nitrogen should be completed in August to allow the lawn to enter the winter dormancy.
It happens that the lawn, tired from winter conditions, is very weak, which exposes it to faster infections. In the spring, for example, snow mold may appear on the lawn. It is favored by nitrogen over-fertilization in the lawn in the autumn. The use of phosphorus-potassium fertilizer from August will prevent the occurrence of fungal diseases. In spring, after a good winter hibernation, the lawn will recover faster, and hence will be healthier. As soon as the snow settles and the grass catches the first rays of the sun, the vegetation will start in full swing. On the other hand, a gray-red winter lawn will quickly turn into an intense, lush green color.
Application method
The fertilizer can be used from mid-July in order to better prepare plants for winter dormancy. However, the best time to start fertilizing with fall fertilizer is August. Then the plants will have time to make optimal use of the nutrients supplied before the onset of winter. In recent years, changes in our climate have been observed, consisting in a significant extension of the summer-autumn period, which translates into an extension of the vegetation period of plants. Therefore, fertilization with autumn fertilizer can be repeated after 2 months. One should only remember not to delay fertilization until frost, because plants are unable to absorb nutrients from the frozen ground. Fall fertilizer for conifers can also be used in spring, but then it is worth supplementing it with nitrogen fertilizer.
FERTILIZER DOSES
In the recommended period, use 20 g (half a handful) * of fertilizer for every 1 m² of lawn area.
Sprinkle the fertilizer evenly over the lawn, and after use, water it abundantly. The fertilizer in contact with moist soil will gradually dissolve.

Co najważniejsze – jesienny nawóz do trawników nie zawiera azotu, więc nie stymuluje roślin do intensywnego wzrostu i tworzenia młodych pędów wrażliwych na niskie temperatury. Zbilansowany skład pomaga roślinom wejść w stan spoczynku zimowego, a także zwiększa zimotrwalość i mrozoodporność roślin. Nawożenie trawników nawozami zawierającymi azot należy zakończyć w sierpniu, aby trawnik mógł wejść w zimowy spoczynek.
Zdarza się, że zmęczony zimowymi warunkami trawnik jest bardzo słaby, co naraża go na szybsze infekcje. Na przykład wiosną na trawniku może pojawić się pleśń śnieżna. Sprzyja temu jesienne przenawożenie trawnika azotem. Stosowanie od sierpnia nawozu fosforowo-potasowego zapobiegnie występowaniu chorób grzybowych. Wiosną, po dobrej zimowej hibernacji, trawnik szybciej się zregeneruje, a co za tym idzie, będzie zdrowszy. Gdy tylko opadnie śnieg i trawa złapie pierwsze promienie słońca, wegetacja ruszy pełną parą. Natomiast szaro-czerwony zimowy trawnik szybko zmieni się w intensywny, soczyście zielony kolor.
